Washington Post’s Middle East correspondent Liz Sly wrote an article in September 2016 titled “Ten new wars that could be unleashed as the result of the one against Isis.”
The article, which references complicated relations between a variety groups and nations fighting in Syria on the same front, with the goal of defeating the Islamic state, is more relevant now than ever.
The United States, Iran, Russia, Israel, the Turks and the Kurds all have their hands in the conflict and they are all looking to snatch up a piece of Syria, which remains in an incredibly strategic location.
Armstrong & Getty invited Sly on the show to give an overview of the evolving issue, which Sly said she would need an entire book to accurately cover!
Listen to the full segment below to hear their conversation and learn why the land in Syria is in such demand and why Sly fears only more war is to come.
