Are the 42 percent of CSU students who say they are “food insecure” telling the truth?

A new report that claims 42 percent of Cal State University students consider themselves “food insecure” is being considered a huge red flag by those who have turned to the study’s findings as evidence the cost of college has become unmanageable

Host Chip Franklin isn’t buying into it. He’s of the mentality that the report is skewed by “snowflakes” and students should be working harder, making more responsible financial decisions and sustaining themselves on the traditional college cuisine of top ramen and french fries.

His counterparts, Nikki Medoro and Heather Hamann aren’t convinced that the study isn’t revealing a genuine problem though, pointing out that it isn’t as straightforward as “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.”
