The suicides of beloved fashion designer Kate Spade and travel documentarian and television personality Anthony Bourdain are bringing the conversation on mental illness back to where it belongs, the forefront.

Unfortunately, despite a clear need for improved access to treatment, mental illness has taken a backseat in the health care industry. Insurance companies are leaving people in the dark. Health Care Industry Expert Seth Denson joined host Chip Franklin and Heather Hamann to offer his expertise on tackling the country’s inadequate approach to mental health in the latest “Explain Like I’m Five” podcast episode.

Listen below to hear his insights.

Explain Like I’m Five is presented by the Commonwealth Club, the nation’s oldest and largest public affairs forum, intent on finding truth and turning it loose in the world.
