“It has been my life to defend principles, not to ask myself whether I like or support to whom the principle is being applied.” – Alan Dershowitz, Harvard Law Professor Emeritus
Alan Dershowitz is a practicing lawyer and Harvard law professor emeritus who has dedicated his latest series of books in defense of the case against impeaching Trump, despite being an avid Hillary Clinton supporter and largely disapproving of the president’s actions and policies.
According to Joe Getty, that makes him a “unicorn.” A term used by him not to describe a mythical creature, but a person who manages to leave partisanship at the door and simply analyze the cold hard facts.
Dershowitz’s stance on the topic has confounded many for its conflict with his personal views, but to him it is straightforward — Trump doesn’t have any “high crimes” under his belt, the criterion for impeachment outlined by the Constitution. He told Armstrong & Getty, separating families at the border and “misspeaking” at Helsinki is far from the evidence Congress would need to kick Trump out of the Oval Office.
In the podcast below, he further explains his argument to the guys!
