“There is no way we can get rid of every gun in this country, but we can have some common sense solutions. For the President to talk about how politics doesn’t belong in this, that it ought to be bipartisan and refuses to even acknowledge that gun checks would make a difference makes me feel sick,”
This morning, President Trump gave a roughly ten-minute speech about the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton. He blamed video games, social media, mental illness, and the internet. But not guns. Earlier this morning, the President tweeted his support for stronger background checks for people wanting to purchase a weapon. But the NRA must have gotten to him because there was not a mention in his address this morning. Ronn also read a brilliant commentary from Gloria Steinem. These shootings have become more political, and whether the President’s speech this morning will have any positive effect.
