PACIFICA, Calif. (AP) - An 82-foot sailboat washed ashore at Pacifica State Beach and is trapped in shallow water at low tide, unable to get back out to sea. Police tell KGO's Jenna Lane the vessel was stolen from a slip in Sausolito.
Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Mike Lutz said a boat was dispatched on Monday to monitor the situation, but that the stranded vessel's crew did not appear to be in immediate danger.
The sailboat "Darlin"' ran aground at a popular surfing beach also known as Linda Mar, and its hull was being battered by the incoming surf.
Lutz said the Coast Guard will stay with the boat to help in any case of distress.
