This is a statewide measure that would basically restrict the amount landlords can raise annual rates on people who rent homes, apartments, etc. We’ve basically gone full circle with Assembly Bill 1482 and right now, where the bill is at under a compromise Newsom has reached, is that annual rent increases cannot exceed 5% plus inflation. So around 7% or 8% rate increases the year. Some question whether it goes strong enough. Others say you shouldn’t be limiting what homeowners and landlords can charge. It has a September 13 deadline. So next Friday, in order to get through to Governor Newsom’s staff.
