PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff Hits the Bay Area

The first wave of PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff is well under way with approximately 500,000 customers without power across Northern California. The company has taken to social media to update the unfolding outage. The second wave of outages was expected to hit several Bay Area counties on Wednesday, October 9 at 12pm, but at 12:29pm the company tweeted that the shutoff would begin “later this afternoon and into early evening”. It is possible that the PSPS could last several days in some areas. A third wave is expected to hit Kern County around 4pm on Thursday, October 10. Below is a list of counties affected by the extended power outage:
