Chip and Nikki talk to San Francisco Pride President Carolyn Wysinger and interim Executive Director Fred Lopez about the controversy surrounding Google and YouTube’s participation in the parade, the growth of the parade and festivities over the years and more.
They haven’t been uninvited. There’s currently no ban in place for Google or Facebook or anyone at this moment. What did happen was a small group of individuals who did come to one of our recent member meetings, and put forth a resolution to try and ban Google from the parade. Our lawyers did actually look into that vote and it was actually determined to be non-legally binding. We’re thankful for our sponsors and partners that come in and make that huge parade and festival that happens over two days. We definitely love having them and right now there’s no ban in place for anyone.
