Good morning KGO family and THANK YOU so much for joining me on the new morning Show. What a time to launch the new show, right? When The Morning Show started on March 2nd, the Coronavirus concerns in the U.S were starting to gain momentum and of course Super Tuesday was the next day. I was so excited to be able to talk with all of you about how you felt about an unknown virus and a presidential race that has seen so many surprises. Little did we know that Joe Biden would have such a turnaround in his campaign after the endorsements of Amy Klobuchar and Pete Buttigieg. I never imagined that Elizabeth Warren would be out of the race and Bernie Sanders may be right behind her.
But then sadly, the health and financial impact of COVID-19 began to dominate the news as we entered a new wave of testing and a rising number of cases in California and across the nation. We were able to speak to a woman on the Grand Princess cruise ship that was docked in Oakland and full of people possibly exposed to the coronavirus.
But it is times like these when radio does what it does best. And that is bringing all of us to the “town square” to talk and share our feelings about what is happening.
I’ve said this on KGO, but I’ll state it again here. I am just like you when it comes to my concerns about what is happening right now. I admit that many times I do worry about what is going to happen if they close my children’s school or if I have enough food to last through a quarantine. I never imagined something like this would happen and I oscillate between thinking we’ll all be okay and worrying about what is next.
I don’t share that to scare you. I share that because I want you to know that when you call in to KGO or when you write to me, you are interacting with someone who is standing by you through all of it. I am going through this with you. Whether it is good news, bad news or something in between, I am honored to be here guiding the conversation.
We will get through this together. There will be a moment when we will know more about this virus and have a way to fight it. There will be a winner in the 2020 election. We will go to bed at night and wake up in the morning and know we are not alone. The world can seem a lot smaller and less scary when you can turn on the radio, hear a conversation between your neighbors and see that it is a new day on KGO.
Oh, and wash your hands.
