San Francisco, CA – June 26, 2020 – Bay to Breakers announced today that the iconic yearly event, originally scheduled for May 31st, and then postponed to September 20th due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is now officially a virtual race that participants will be able to complete between September 20th and October 2nd, 2020.
“After postponing the iconic Bay to Breakers race from May to September, we made the difficult decision to transition to a virtual event.” said John Kane, Capstone Event Group CEO. “The City and County of San Francisco along with the entire Bay to Breakers team want participants, staff and volunteers to stay well, and we are not confident that it will be safe to host large crowds in September due to COVID-19.”
Although the race is officially being adjusted once more, runners can still be a part of this legacy event. Runners currently registered and anyone who wants to participate in this unique experience can complete their virtual run from September 20 – October 2, 2020 on a convenient route of their choosing.
Participants will receive their T-shirt/tank, medal and bib as well as a bonus hoodie to signify the uniqueness of the 2020 race.
Registrants that are unable to participate in this year’s virtual run can defer their registration into Bay to Breakers 2021 or Bay to Breakers 2022. Deferral fees will be waived.
