Golden Gate Park turns 150 and to commemorate the occasion America’s largest traveling observation wheel is here to celebrate!

“Standing 150 feet in Golden Gate Park’s Music Concourse, the SkyStar Observation Wheel features 36 fully-enclosed, temperature-controlled gondolas, boasting unparalleled views from downtown San Francisco to the Pacific Ocean. This is the first time an observation wheel of this scale has operated in San Francisco since Golden Gate Park hosted the Midwinter International Exposition of 1894,” states the SkyStar Wheel.

“We’ve had to adapt many of our community events and celebrations this year, but the fact that we can now safely open the observation wheel is a tribute to the resilience of our city and provides some much-needed hope for our residents,” said San Francisco Mayor London Breed.

SkyStar will incorporate health and safety modifications to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

“We have a strict protocol in place,” said SkyView Partners Managing Partner Todd Schneider, explaining cleaning between rides, social distancing in line, and reservations are included in the measures being taken during “the unprecedented times that we’re in.” Click here for more details relating to COVID-19 protocols.
