UCSF’s epidemiology and prevention of infectious disease expert, Dr. George Rutherford joins The Pat Thurston Show to discuss the latest update in the coronavirus pandemic.

With coronavirus being at the top of everyone’s mind since March there are still a lot of unanswered questions. A new article reports some coronavirus survivors have antibodies that attack the body, not virus.

“It’s not clear to me what it all means at this point…It’s going to take a little bit of time to understand if this is something that’s going to lead to downstream pathology.” Said Dr. Marion Pepper, an immunologist at the University of Washington in Seattle, in a New York Times article about antibodies.

During Governor Gavin Newsom’s Tuesday press conference, he reported 3,188 new coronavirus cases on October 26th and 3,699 new cases daily on a 14 day average. California is recording 133,997 daily coronavirus test on a 7 day average. Over the last 14 days, hospitalizations have increased 4.7% and ICU admission increased 5.9% in regards to COVID-19.
