The Food and Drug Administration officially recommends the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine for emergency use authorization for people 16 and older.

ABC Investigative Reporter Aaron Katersky joins Nikki Medoro Friday morning to explain vaccine distribution. Shots will begin for health care workers and nursing home residents, widespread access to the general public is not expected until the spring.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced the city’s plan for its first doses on Twitter.

“With the high efficacy and good safety profile shown for our vaccine, and the pandemic essentially out of control, vaccine introduction is an urgent need,” said Kathrin Jansen, a senior vice president and the head of vaccine research and development at Pfizer.
