Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf joins Nikki Medoro Wednesday morning to explain how Oakland is preparing to vaccinate its residents.

When asked if she would take the vaccine, Schaaf said,

“My personal opinion is, I need to wait in line…there are so many people who deserve this shot before I do, so I plan to wait my turn just like every other Oaklander who doesn’t have these risk factors. I’m just going to continue to follow these health orders and do my best. I count my blessings that I am not in one of those vulnerable categories.”

Alameda County will receive its first 14,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine next week, which will be prioritized for healthcare workers to ensure “we take care of those who’ve taken care of us” Schaaf announced on Twitter.
