After more than 25 hours of debate and votes, Senate Democrats passed a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill Saturday aimed at helping lower-income Americans, small businesses, schools, the hard-hit hospitality and tourism industries, as well as state and local governments – with aid also going to boost front-line pandemic work, vaccines, testing and tracing plans.
ABC Washington Correspondent Faith Abubey joins The Morning Show with Nikki Medoro to discuss The American Rescue Plan as it now progressing through Congress.
Oakland Mayor Libby Shaaf joined Nikki Medoro last Wednesday to discuss the progress in the vaccination process leading to hope for reopening schools.
“Cities like Oakland need this Rescue Plan to restore services that we’ve had to cut during this crisis, like public safety +park workers. Without aid, Oakland will exhaust emergency reserves + need to cut more. This plan is a lifeline for our community, economy & public services.” Tweeted Schaaf.
“The American Rescue Plan is a rescue plan for Oakland.”
