The SF Bar Owner Alliance which represents over 300 bars in the city announced a policy that will require proof of vaccination for entry. This statement follows the spike in COVID-19 cases and the spread of the Delta variant in San Francisco.
While each individual bar will have the final say in how the new rule will be enforced, customers will need to show their vaccination card or a negative COVID-19 test to enter. Unvaccinated customers will still be allowed to sit in outdoor areas
In their statement, the Alliance’s decision was “based solely on our need to protect our workers, customers, and their families,” but hopes that the policy, which will take effect on July 29th, will influence unvaccinated customers to go get their shot. The SF Bar Owner Alliance received support for their decision from from Mayor London Breed:
This is a responsible decision by the SF Bar Owner Alliance that will help protect employees and customers.
We need everyone to get vaccinated, especially as the Delta variant continues to spread. It’s how we can keep our city and our residents safe. https://t.co/RAENDN4SrK
