Bay Area Sees Spare the Air Alert Through Tuesday

The Bay Area’s Spare the Air Alert is now extended through Tuesday August 24 due to smoke from wildfires further north in California.

The Bay Area’s Spare the Air Alert is now extended through Saturday due to smoke from wildfires further north in California.

A Spare the Air Alert is called when air quality is forecast to be unhealthy, or above 100 in the AQI.


A Spare the Air Alert has been issued for Thursday August 19th through Friday August 20th in the San Francisco Bay Area as thick smoke from wildfires continues to spread throughout the area.

A Spare the Air Alert is called when air quality is forecast to be unhealthy, or above 100 in the AQI. When a Spare the Air Alert is issued remember to do the following:

The alert comes as the Dixie Fire spreads to 678,369 acres. Located above the Cresta Dam, Feather River Canyon in Butte, Plumas, Lassen, and Tehama Counties it is 35% contained.
