Santa Clara Approves New Curfew for Levi’s Stadium

Levi’s Stadium will extend its curfew.

However, the curfew comes with limitations. The Santa Clara City Council voted to allow the stadium to have limited weeknights events end after 10pm on Tuesday. Each year moving forward 5 non-NFL weeknight events can go until 11pm. Previously, the only exception was events occurring on Friday and Saturday, which still need to be over by 11pm.

The strict curfew has been a point of contention for years. U2 and Coldplay both proudly disregarded the cut-off in 2017, Ed Sheeran cancelled his concert because of the time restrictions and SFist reported the Rolling Stones said they never play Levi’s Stadium on any future tours.

In response to the highly anticipated debate, Councilmember Anthony Becker said,

“My job now as an elected official is to make sure we’re going to make as much money as we can off of this stadium…And that’s going to come with very transparent oversight. That’s going to make sure operations are going smoothly and making sure the neighbors’ concerns are addressed.”

Becker shared his complete statement on Twitter.
