Mall of America Reopens After Shooting

Update: August 5, 2022

Minnesota’s Mall of America reopened Friday, after a shooting incident and lockdown on Thursday.

Police say the shooting began as a fight between two groups of people at the Nike store. Someone armed with a handgun fired at least three shots into the store before fleeing.

No one was hurt, but the incident sent shoppers running for cover and the mall was in lockdown for about 90 minutes. Police are still looking for two suspects connected to the shooting.

The lockdown has been lifted at the Mall of America after shots were fired in an isolated incident, according to a tweet from Bloomington Police.

The Bloomington Police confirm that, “Shots were fired and the suspect fled the MOA on foot.” The officers are in the process of interviewing witnesses and are still looking for a victim.
