‘She Defined an Era’: The World Reacts to Queen Elizabeth II’s Death

Queen Elizabeth II has passed away. The monarch died on Thursday after being put under medical supervision at her Scottish Highlands estate.

The Royal Family shared the sad news on Twitter, writing, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning British monarch, acting as Queen for 70 years. Prince Charles is first in line to succeed the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II’s son Charles, now the King, released an official statement.

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt through the country, the Reals, and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

In a statement, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden said the queen, “defined an era.”

“Queen Elizabeth II was a stateswoman of unmatched dignity and constancy who deepened the bedrock Alliance between the United Kingdom and the United States. She helped make our relationship special.”
