It’s not looking good.
Kyle Shanahan said that Trey Lance will require surgery on his broken ankle on Monday morning and will be out for the year during the 49ers’ postgame presser.
“He’s doing as good as he can, I’m hurting for him,” Shanahan said about Lance.
Lance was carted off the field in the first quarter after taking a hit on a run up the middle. Lance ran three times up the middle in the first quarter, and did so many times in the Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears. Here’s what Lance’s ankle looked like after the injury:
“Anytime a guy gets hurt I wish I didn’t call that,” Shanahan said about running Lance up the middle. “But no, that’s something we were going to do and something we were going to continue to do.”
As the Morning Show with Nikki Medoro gives away its first 49er tickets to the listener who knows yesterday’s KGO Play of the Game, they discuss how fortunate the team was to have Jimmy Garapolo available to step in after Trey Lance’s season-ending injury.
